Vickie, hope you don't mind if I butt in here a little. My sister had a cheap "e-machine" computer as she just needed something simple and like I said "less expensive". She finally disconnected it all together as she had so many problems with it. She was on high speed cable internet also and all the pop-ups, spyware, etc. that she accumulated that my limited knowledge of computers couldn't get her back on-line ... even after I installed Norton antivirus, a firewall, and other protection devices.

My 2 daughters have laptops .... one a refurbished HP that gives us fits and the other a Dell purchased about 5 years ago. The Dell works like a charm. My computer is a Tiger Systemax desktop that I've had a few problems with but they were of my own doing when I let antivirus subscriptions lapse. Mine came from Tiger Direct.com and is made of easily interchangable components that I can add to or upgrade as needed. I prefer AMD processors over Intel personally, and began using "iolo" antivirus and system mechanics programs as well as a Norton firewall that I've been happy with so far. I'm also still using XP Windows and like it.

Good luck and Merry Christmas.
