My wife and I will be there again this year.  We'll drive up on Wednesday afternoon.  Live just across the Alabama state line.  Hope to meet some of you and be introduced properly.  I hate that I missed all those prior years.  Plan on never missing one again.  See you there.

Charlie Daniels Park. Probably not the right name. I'll look up there in the fan club section or newsletter to see if the address is available. It's about 3 miles from the hotel I'm staying at.

Funny you should mention the Park....

I took several shots of the park last year even one panoramic, as soon as I figure out how to load this huge shot... I'll put them up on this thread.

You'll have landmarks and everything so you can find the park.... lol

Sadly it looks like I will not get to attend yet another reunion party/celebration.

That said, I sure enjoy the enthusiasm of the ones that are planning on being there and enjoy reading the posts.

Y'all are my eyes and ears and since I won't be there it appears, I at least get some joy out of y'all sharing things about it.

I'm looking forward to hearing all the stories y'all post and the pics. of the party too.

I know for sure I'd have a lot of fun if I ever got to attend one, I'd shake a lot of hands and give a lot of hugs to those that are comfortable getting hugs in a brotherly, family, Christian kind of manner,

Duke

Note; Just in case there may be one or more that may think I take not actually being there lightly, I've also had to miss a few family reunions too.

I haven't thrown in the towel yet. Kinda waiting to see how bad the heat effects me this year. Another "roadblock" is I-81 south will be backed up for construction through June 9th. 8 hour drive is long, 10 hours is ridiculous.

Never say never.

I just rated this topic 5 stars/excellent, because it is an important one to a lot of folks-even though I've never been able to attend one, has good info, a bit of drama, some humor and shows friendship,

Duke

Everyone SHOULD go to at least one.

Hokie don't tell me you may not make it? BOO!!

Duke, you're in GA! Get in the car (ok that may cost a ba-gillion dollars) take the bus, car pool but get to the party.

Here's an idea, one year let's do a party bus to TN. What do you think? I'll drive!

Bellard,

You must be in a generous mood today, you let me off easy.:)

I enjoyed your post and that was a very good pep talk.

Makes me want to fill up the tank with about fiddy dollars worth and strike out today.:)

$3.43 per gal. for reg. yesterday-ooouch:shock::D:D:D

I've been wanting to go to one for yrs. and after that invigorating pep talk I'll speak to my darling again, it just may be possible.

No promises though, just gonna check the sitchi-ational money and timing again.

As far as yooou driving the bus? Weeell as many professionals that I've heard of that have wrecked buses due to driver error, you may be a good choice.

I hope we can swing being there, I'd sure have a good time nooo doubt.

Once again, good upbeat pep talk,

Duke

Note; The good news is that the reunion will be a success if I'm there or not, I'd sure love to shake a lot of hands and hug a lot of folks. Mr. Daniels has a lot of good folks as fans.

Edited in, I had to change peep talk to pep talk, yeah, I knoooow:?.

Things are shaping up for me to be there again this year.  I usually coordinate the party with a trip up North to visit family (fly out of Nashville) and the dates seem to be working well again.

So, I hope to see y'all in just about 2 months from now.  As usual, I am looking forward to it.  The CDB party is a highlight of my year!:)

It seems like ages since I saw the CDB, but in reality it was just this past November @ Christmas for Kids in Nashville!;)

Jerri,

Just finished saying a prayer for your husband and the whole family and I'm confident others will or have prayed also.

Prayers are one of the many benefits that forum members get.

Much love to you and all in His precious and Holy name,

Duke

BIG miracle is the only way for me. I'm a very sick man now. I'd just really be happy if the CDB would please book where I live. Y'all have a good time. I'll keep working on getting better, but the course of this disease has taken a hideous turn.

And for sure gotta have sweet tea...mcdonalds has it now in oregon sweet tea, but yeachhhhhh not so good not compared to CB anywhoo.

Not sure about the party right now Liska. We're vacationing in Gatlinburg the weekend of Memorial Day before and then we have corporate from all over the world coming into the plant here at work the week of the party. Plus the girls are both doing summer semester at college. But I'll be there to see y'all at Cracker Barrel for sure ... unless they schedule some meeting for us that morning.

For those that haven't seen it;

There's a reminder on the Home page in the upper right about getting Fan Club membership joined or rejoined in time to get an invitation to the Fan Club party,

Duke

I'd like to be there, but chances are slim to none.

In any case I know all that do get to go will be glad they did, I'd sure like to get to meet you all in person, the Fan Club party is a very good opportunity,

Duke

When all of you are in town be sure to visit Ginger and her son's deli under the Charlie Daniels Museum. It is called The Waterfront Deli and here is all the information I just built them a new website and put together a commercial for them.

http://www.waterfrontdeli-nashville.com

You will see me there often! Not only because I likes to eat but because the food is EXCELLENT!

Broose,

Nice job on the web page, I looked it over pretty good and I think they'll do plenty of business.

Good location for sure.

Enjoyed the video, nice looking sign and I love that big ice cream cone out front,

Duke

I'm officially backing out as of this second. It's not happening no matter how hard I desire it. I'm not even gonna bother Ginger sending in my invitation. The rigors of my daily living are many, and an 8 hour trip isn't possible. I guess I can just cherish my one and only trip in 2007.

Can someone please take some really good pictures of The Charlie Daniels Band on stage? Taz, Bruce, Charlie H, Pat, Wormey, and that fella up front. Maybe an autographed pic from Carolyn! ha ha. Maybe get a $200 digital camera? It would be so nice to get some good shots this year. Meets some strangers, have them join the board, post some pics. If they have any new stuff they're selling at the party, call me, I'll buy! Send me a sammich from Ginger's Deli through the mail!

Anyway, I'll just keep adjusting to my "new life". Have a good time, I'll try to eat at Cracker Barrel, only a few hundred miles away!

Maybe next year???

Hoke-Man, I just had an idea that we can start working on for next year ....
When I was Air Force back in 1979, one of my best friends in Germany was from, where else .... Lynchburg, Virginia. I've been trying to find him but haven't been successful yet. It'd be cool if I could locate him (he was a Charlie fan also) and maybe yáll could carpool down together. I'd get to see my old friend and you'd have a traveling companion. It's been exactly 30 years since we parted but the ties are always strong with us ... especially in the same service and the same career field.
Cross our fingers, got nothing to lose. My buddy's name was Lloyd Smith, we called him Smitty but I believe his family called him Junior.

I really appreciate the thought, but I'm just having trouble functioning in general. Without a lot of drama, I'm in bad shape. Hokie football has been gone for 2 years now, I didn't even bother getting season tickets this time. Traveling just an hour to see a concert last month only had me turn around after I got there, realizing I was dead tired. I had to leave the Zac Brown Concert a couple of weeks ago because it was freezing, and my feet were in agonizing pain. I'm tired...........

I really want everyone to have a good time.

Do what you can Joe Willie, and don't be bashful to sneak on up to the stage to take a couple of good ones (watch me get you booted out!). I would have been leaving in the morning, but good ol' Nashville is looking like 90 degrees all week. Good Luck!

Just a reminder - THIS is the official 2011 CDB Fan Club Party thread. It would be great to have all the pictures and info on here. I'll be taking the other one down after destination has been safely arrived!

Thanks

You going to the party on June 8th right?

Not sure about the party right now Liska. We're vacationing in Gatlinburg the weekend of Memorial Day before and then we have corporate from all over the world coming into the plant here at work the week of the party. Plus the girls are both doing summer semester at college. But I'll be there to see y'all at Cracker Barrel for sure ... unless they schedule some meeting for us that morning.

Liska and friends, sorry but I'll be a no-show this year at the Cracker Barrel also as too may things are going on at once and the economy continues its devastation. Hopefully, we'll be able to all get together again in the future.
Mark

Sorry, guys, but I will not be able to make it this year either. Funds are just not available because my checking account got hacked and it will take a week or more to get it straightened out. I will miss you all terribly! Liska, eat some hashbrown casserole for me! :(

I'll try and get some photos attached here tonight. Turned camera over to my wife, she got some good shots I think. I was more concerned with the fan club contest for old song to be in concert, Passing Lane was favorite and I won the Opry tickets and cash. Thanks Charlie!!

I just made it back home. Will post all the pics later today.

We had alot of new members there but the regulars were not there and I understand with the economy and the price of gas and everything it is very expensive to travel these days.

Yes, several of us commented that many "regulars" were not there.  On the other hand, it was nice to see so many new members join the Fan Club and attend!

It was good to see Broose and others.  But I too understand that travel is very expensive and made it prohibitive for some regulars (and others) to come.

Glenn,

Thats what alot of the regulars have told me the reason was they didn't attend because of money being tight and I can understand that in this economy. People just don't have any extra money after paying their bills.

I know that I only live 45 minutes away but I had wiped everything out already. We hadn't had a vacation in 3 years so I was determined to take the family to the mountains in East Tennessee. Then I had to get the air conditioned fixed in the Explorer to make it there (hadn't had AC in it for 5 years ... (a '93 model that we still drive every day). Top it off, I had to come up with summer semester tuition out of pocket for both my girls for college ... their education is priority #1.
Even eating out is a luxury that we have to stretch out.

I consider myself one of the lucky ones as I still have good health and a job and I know there are many, many others less fortunate that need our thoughts and prayers. I don't see a political miracle person in the near future to lead us out of this quagmire that we've allowed to fester in our midst. Like Charlie's recent Soapbox .... "Whoever you are, wherever you are, please make yourself known. We need you desperately."

Well Mustang someone had to take the pictures so I guess I never got a chance to step out from behind the camera. But thats where I would rather be behind the camera and not in front of it! hee hee.

That was my question when I heard Justin Bieber was at fan fair. Just goes to show you how the CMA ain't got a clue.

I took my the family to the Opry Tuesday night and this was the first time I ever sat in the audience been backstage many times with different artists I have worked with but never in the audience. It was a great time we really enjoyed it but one thing that bothered me was Carrie Underwood. She is NOT country and in my opinion has no business being a member of the Grand Ole Opry and especially a member before Charlie Daniels! Now C'mon that just ain't right!

Hey Yall!
We had a great time at the CDB family reunion! Food was great, fellowship was great and so was the concert and M&G!
Missed many of you who usually come, like Doreen, Carolina Sue, Bellard, Mustang, Hokie, TBell, and Karen, and Southern George, just to name a few.
Was happy to see Bruce and his family, Jerri, Glenn, Mike NelsonJoe-Willie and so thrilled he won the tix and $500 "Walkin around money". They had great prizes this year..besides the one that Joe-Willie won, somebody won a red, white and blue, signed guitar, t shirts and a bunch of other cool stuff. Lots of visiting singers, from young to old.
Lots of "surprise guests" but they didnt come on stage..Did see Guy Gilchrist and he was giving alot of people his book.
Also got to see Tommy Shortt...i was hoping he would get to sing. I got my pic takenwith him by Bruce in the party pix.
Passing Lane did win for the most voted old song. But they didn't do it. Brother Charlie did do "Talk to me Fiddle" which is one of my faves...but way hard to do justice to interpreting because the songs of each genre of music he plays...just very hard to portray, plus tell the ever changing story as that fiddle "bounces around America, from sea to shining sea!"
We had three deaf/hard of hearing ladies in attendence...two from Knoxville, Betty, and Lavonna...they just loved the show and the party!
It was kinda funny Betty and Lavonna just kept signing...we want Trudy, we want Trudy! And Brother Charlie, says...don't worry ladies, we will get to it, promise!
Black Ice and Saddle Tramp totally ROCKED that community center. Man, I love me some CDB instrumental...just nuthin better.
Ginger and Deanna threw the greatest party ever. Ive been to a few fc parties and the CDB party is by FAR the best. LOVE the CDB staff and crew...so sweet and friendly! Didnt see Dean Tubbs. = (
I love that Brother Charlie feeds us, gives us a great concert...the boys are accessible for pics and very sweet...I think I got a pic with everybody but Charlie H...and Wormey...well I got a hug from Wormey but no pic. Also, Charlie stays around and poses for pics and gives you a hug and signs your stuff until we are DONE. He makes sure everybody is satisfied. NObody does that. I mean, loves his fans and shows it...your fan club membership gets you a t shirt, a glossy pic, and invitation to the fc party for you and a guest, plus M&G for a concert of your choice. The party is like 4 hours long.Seriously we didnt get outta there til 8p or so. We are so spoiled as CDB fans.
They do a concert at their party not an "unplugged medley sound byte thing". Hes a Believer and a Patriot. I tell ya they threw away the mold when they made Brother Charlie.
Sorely missed was Miss Hazel. I love seeing her and chatting and learning more about her and Charlies life together. She passed on her well wishes thru Charlie, but she is still recovering from her back surgery and not quite up to the long party day.
We did have Whitts bbq with sweet tea, again and popcorn...all the trimmings. It was awesome.
They had some new t shirts...a sweet girl design shirt which i loved but alas, did not come in a suitable size for me. ahem.
The set list (from my memory..hmm...= )  Wooley Swamp, South, LHCB, What this world needs is a few more rednecks, Carolina, How Great Thou Art, Amazing Grace, Talk to me Fiddle,Black Ice, Saddle Tramp, Uneasy Rider, Trudy,Simple Man and DWDTG.
Miss Carolyn Corlew joined the stage, which is always a blessing...shes such a great singer and so pretty. Tucker Yochim said the Blessing over our food. I saw Danielle Di Gregorio, but didnt get a chance to talk to her.
It was my daughter Jackie's first trip to Nashville and a CDB family reunion. She really had a great time as well. She got pics and when we can get them on a disk, Ill post some on the board.
Missed you who couldn't make it...especially to the breakfast it was only Bruce me and my daughter Jackie....and Gumby, who travel led with us this trip!
God bless yall and hope to see you at next years party.
Thanks again to Miss Ginger, and Miss Deanna who truly know how to throw a great party.

Got home a couple days ago and finally getting back to normal, whatever that is. It was great to see Bruce, Liska, Glen and lots of others. Good to see so many new members. As usual, it was wonderful. Mr. Daniels treats us like family. Great food and entertainment as always. Missed the ones that couldn't be there. Hope to see you next year. Hope Mrs Daniels recouperates from her back surgery as well as I did. Thank you again Mr. Daniels, Ginger, the band and everyone involved. I had a great time and am very grateful.

Thanks Nic. I appreciate it. I always have fun and just wish more of the people on this board would actually go to fan club events.

Yes, that would be nice.  I guess many of the MB members live too far away to participate and/or cannot get the time off.

But...if you DO get a chance to come...it is as Liska says...LOTS OF FUN!!!!;)  And it is just like it is called...a "FAMILY REUNION."  Not just a concert or a lunch, but a gathering of the greater CDB "family" of which I am a proud member!

Out of all the fan club parties I've been to I have to say that Charlie's was just about my favorite. I got to see him in concert, a free meal, and a auotgraph signing after the show. I liked it alot how Charlie picked people out of the crowd to request songs and he'd play him. Can't wait to come back next year.

We finally got to attend the party this year for the first time and we had a BLAST! I hope we can make it each year now, I will certainly try. Little did I know that 2 weeks after the party I would be in the hospital for emergency surgery, but I am feeling better than I have in years and I'm even losing weight. The doctor said I nearly died, but I am blessed to still be here. We just got back from seeing Charlie in Cherokee, NC tonight and as usual he rocked the house! God bless you Charlie Daniels!:D

Mmmmmmmm 2 orders of HASHBROWN CASSEROLE, Hokie! I can almost smell the aroma from here. Fried apples .... biscuits that will melt in your mouth .... bacon cooked to perfection, not too crunchy, not to chewy .... eggs scrambled to just the right consistency .... Doesn't this look good, Liska?

Hope you gentleman enjoyed your meeting as much as the food:)

After all these years of talking on line Liska and I were able to meet up last month and I sure enjoyed her company (as I knew I would).

It was good to see Hokie again, hadn't seen him in about 5 years.

That Liska is a jewel isn't she? Interesting lady with a big ole heart.

I was on my way back home from the Veterans Rally in Washington DC on Veterans Day. Met a "wingman" of mine up there also from the Air Force Together We Served website ... a VietNam veteran and a fine fellow. (I'm the big guy bundled up and trying to stay warm on a very windy day) Plus I can never turn down a chance to see Hokie and eat some of that good Cracker Barrel food!!
