I knew they would forget. Every obscure musician, rap "artist", producer, director, druggie, but no Tommy Crain or Taz Digregorio. Billy Powell didn't get in a few years ago, southern rock just gets passed over by these snobbish no talent dunderheads! Read my mind, because I sure can't print it!!

That's one of many reasons I don't watch those stupid shows. Speaking of Taz, I was thinking about him today while driving. NPR was doing a story about gas drilling in the Marcellus Shale in northern Appalacia and they were interviewing an expert named Kevin DiGregorio.

Dear Taz,

Hi buddy. Did you like the show at The Opry this past Saturday? You had the best seat in the house up there in Heaven. We miss you, and thanks for watching over Shannon as he's playing in your old spot here on earth.

No, we haven't forgot you friend!

It's been awhile since I've logged on, been reading and still praying for all.

I'm usually not at a loss for words, but since I first read of Taz's untimely passing, I've just been at a loss of what to write.

It was certainly a shock to read of his home going.

Some years ago before a concert at the Marietta, Ga. fair grounds I got to spend a few minutes around Taz outside at the buses as he cheerfully talked with we fans, took pics. and just enjoyed the time.

I will always remember him and the short time I was around him, thankfully his music and videos of him are still with us.

My deepest heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fans.

I thank God for the time he shared with so many and my prayers are for each and all.

Taz is missed and will continue to be, surely by those that knew him best, but also by a very wide range of people from all walks of life.

One of those is me,

Duke

That was a good tribute Duke. I can relate to how nice he was even though I only met him once. Thankfully there was nobody else around but my wife so I didn't have to compete with a crowd for his attention. He was amazing. At first I was a little nervous but immediately he made me feel like a long lost friend and member of the CDB family. We got to talk to him for quite awhile and he answered a ton of questions I had. I was just so amazed at how at ease he made me feel.
I posted this earlier (on a soapbox)but a guy who is the top country music DJ in my area told me that he was at a big shindig once (in Meridian Mississippi as I recall). There was a lot of country music stars there but it didn't take long for the CDB to get the reputation as the nicest, most down to earth folks to talk to...."By far" as he described it...He found out for himself why they had that reputation. I have no doubt Taz was a big part of that. There are a thousand reasons Charlie and his band have been my favorite entertainers my entire adult life. Taz was certainly one of the biggest. He still is. The picture I have of him and I together is something I will treasure forever.

I have been kind of out of the loop for a while and I just came upon this thread and I'm shocked at Taz's death and ashamed I didn't hear about it until now.

I had the pleasure to meet him several times and like so many others have said, he was always gracious, friendly and down to Earth.

Probably my fondest memory with him was before a show in Sarasota, Florida. He was hanging around outside the bus and I talked with him for several minutes. The venue is right beside this gorgeous bay and Taz and I watched the sunset over the water. After that I always kept a look out for a song from him called "Sarasota Sunset."

It was so cool that so many "casual" CDB fans were walking around and didn't even recognize him. I even told a few people, "that guy over there, he's been Charlie Daniels' keyboard player for more than 30 years." Their reaction? "Really?"

The last time I met him was last August (2011) in Rock Hill, South Carolina. He and Bruce were working at the merchandise tent and I talked with him before and after the show. Had no idea that I'd never get to see him again.

RIP, piano man. We miss you!
