Tell me about the schedule. Since it is on a Wednesday and my drive in each direction is six hours I will have to close my business for a day.
What time does the event usually start and what time does it usually end?

Until someone corrects me, I'll say the doors open about 4, party starts at 5, and ends about 8. I'll put money on it being June 6th this year.
I'm broker than broke. Barring a huge miracle, you folks will never see me again. I really enjoyed my one year! Living on memories now .....

The six hour drive for me includes crossing into another time zone. Leaving at 10:00 AM EST would have me arriving at 3:00 PM local time. If the event ends at 8:00 PM it is realistic to drive home that evening, but I would probably get a hotel room.

Hi Guys...the News section says the party invite is up for FC members...check it out. June 6th 2012 Wednesday doors open @ 330 and food will be served @ 4p. After the concert Charlie will be signing autographs and it will be greatly appreciated if you limit your signed items to two, due to the large crowd...It says party is 4-7p.
Get your reservations now.
Cant wait to see you all.

Unfortunately this year I won't be attending. This will be the first time I have missed it and will definitely miss everyone and all the fun we have. It's only once a year we get to see each other and this is it.
If someone would take on the task of taking some pictures for the website I would greatly appreciate it and I know Charlie and all the fans will appreciate it also.

Yes, pictures of the band please! Goodness, I reckon I was only afforded to go one year. My heart wants to go, my body and my wallet say no. Move around, I'm sure they won't boot you out if you come close to the stage! I was hoping Broose could get permission to video How Great Thou Art for Youtube. Have a great time!!

Great Broose. I'll make sure and introduce myself.
Liska, thought we would make it this year to Cracker Barrel, but we've got two couples that have joined the CDB fanclub this year and will be coming up with us. Will not get to leave work until around lunch that day and then we'll drive up. See you all there, can't wait.

Someone backed into my car this afternoon at the bank. It runs OK, but the hood is crushed. I do not want to take a chance on having a problem and being unable to raise the hood. Anything can go wrong even though all my hoses are new. Sometimes even a new hose can spring a leak. The risk of being stranded is remote, but it is best not to take a chance.
If I cannot get another car to drive it means there is no trip for me tomorrow.

Steve, we should have worn nametags so we could find you.
Fan Club Party was great again as usual. Miss Ginger Ambrose, the CDB FanClub president always outdoes herself to make everyone feel welcome and to have a great time! Thanks again Miss Ginger!
Where to begin ..... I got with Liska and Broose and we had a great time just talking after the concert and while the meet and greet line was shortening up.

Charlie and the band were at the top of their game doing audience requests. I can't remember all the songs but here's what I do remember ....
1) Long Haired Country Boy
2) Still In Saigon
3) Saddle Tramp (one of my all time favorites)
4) Wooley Swamp
5) Trudy (we got to see Liska go into overdrive mode on this song doing her sign interpretation)
6) Simple Man
7) Carolina, I Remember You
8)Brought out the fiddle and did South's Gonna Do It Again
and ended up with a song about a Devil in Georgia
For the last song Charlie invited all of the children in the audience to come up on stage and help him out.

And somewhere in the middle, Charlie had some guest singers come up. Broose might have to help me out with names here as there was a young man named Baltimore that sang the old Johnny Cash song, Folsom Prison Blues (and did a great job with Charlie and the band jamming behind him) as well as long time CDB extended family member, Tucker Yochim singing. Miss Carolyn Corlew joined the band for a few songs on backup vocals as well as harmonica player, Harley Lamoureux, of Nashville.
Tribute of course was given to long time CDB keyboardist Taz DiGregorio as I know we all miss him terribly, as his wife Danielle was present in the audience. New keyboardist Shannon Wickline flexed his fingers on the ivories at his very first FanClub appearance and definitely did not disappoint! Got to talk with Shannon and meet his wife afterwards and he's a great guy with a sense of humor and will fit in nicely, welcome Shannon!

My daughters were of course thrilled to see Chris Wormer again. I was talking with Chris as my eldest was taking a picture and he asked "Where's the other matching bookend?" (talking about my youngest). They were thrilled that Chris remembered them.

Bruce Brown did a song (man I'm terrible with song names) and he let that electric guitar talk as the fingers slid over the frets. Between he and Wormey, Charlie has some nice dualing guitars going all the time and when Charlie steps in with them ... it is HEAVEN!
Charlie Hayward and Pat McDonald were on their game as well. Though talking with Pat afterwards and sensing he had some kind of laryngitis going on, it didn't slow him down a bit as he wore out the drums, especially on SaddleTramp.
A few more pics (Charlie sporting that University of Tennessee ball cap ..GO VOLS!)

My buddy, Geoff, and I rode our Harleys up to the Party as my family followed in the Mustang. A nice little 75 minute ride up to Mt Juliet from my house. It was Geoff's first time to the party and meet Charlie. Geoff's a US Army veteran and stands 6'7" ... he even makes a RoadKing look small!

Thanks again to all of the CDB family for another great FanClub party! Missed you Hokie-Man! And thanks to all of our armed forces world-wide for protecting our freedoms. All services had members at the party and looked terrific in their uniforms.Last edited on Thu Jun 7th, 2012 06:13 pm by Mustng959

Thanks. That's all I asked for was a good report. Well, I emailed Broose about getting one of those 40th anniversary shirts. I saw them on Charlie's twitter. I sure wish I had been there, riding on a Can-Am (I just saw a friend of mine with one the other day). I am so bummed out I couldn't go, but thanks for the report!

I got home at 3:00 AM and got up at 7:00 AM. I have been too tired to write anything yet.
Because things got uncertain Tuesday afternoon I held off posting what kind of shirt I would be wearing, but we definitely crossed paths.
I was wearing a gray baseball shirt with red trim and a black NRA hat. My eyeglasses are totally round. I was there when the photo of the girls with Chris was taken. Chris and I talked about Music Man guitars for a minute or two.
The whole day was so "last minute" for me that getting to the community center early was a relief, but the whole time the event was happening I kept thinking about having to get home.

Sure sounds like y'all had a great time. I am going to try like heck to go next year.
Charlie and the CDB will be in Flagstaff, 3 hours away this month. I'm going to try to take my 11 year old son over. I got him hooked on the Miami Dolphins. He's sure to get hooked on the CDB.

IDKY, I'm gonna meet you there next year. I plan to wear my fan club t-shirt with my name airbrushed on it, with "Mudbug" and that old crawdad logo under that. Can't miss me - I'll be the tall skinny 60-somethin' with black leather britches.
Mustang, can't thank you enough for that great photo/event write-up. Sounds like a FAN-tastic (pun, intentional ) time was enjoyed by all!

I thought i better chime in with my little fam reunion report.
Thanks be to God for cooler weather this year. That helps alot with that many people in the CD community center.
Got to catch up on the news standing in line. And that was fun.
Talked to Wanda, and Jerry and Tom and Ann...also Mustang and his family.
Some deaf friends of mine came in from Knoxville, so that was awesome.
Not as many chairs as there have been in the past...giving way to more tables for folks to sit around to eat.
Grace was given and we all lined up for bbq...Whitts BBQ which has been always awesome...pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw, chips, pecan pie and another kind, which i cannot remember. OF course we had sweet tea and popcorn.
We visited for awhile and had a great time saying hello and seeing each other. Mustang gave the set list and it was a "request" concert as is status quo for the CDB family reunion.
The concert is always killer and this year did not disappoint. However...sorely missed was Hymns How great thou art which is a crowd fave.
Lots of giveaways this year....a fiddle, new cd/t shirt/cap music packages, and framed & mounted cd/records that are collectors items now.
Got to see Miss ginger, and Deanna, also Bebe. and Broose. A special treat for me was Lisa Boult showing up and getting to see her and hug her neck.. Even tho she doesnt work for the CDB anymore, she is still family.
When the concert started...Brother Charlie, says...how do you like your Dixie bbq? Well we thought it was just fine. What a great party the CDB staff puts on for us the fans. Brother Charlie could charge for this you know, but he doesnt. Other fan clubs charge quite a lot ...in fact some are even lottery based and you STILL have to pay a lot of money and may not even get a meet and greet or autograph or pic. Charlie and his crowd bless us with a great party. Ive gone 11 years in a row now, i know Im a baby and that theres others who have been going for many years. I sure appreciate the party.
It was good to see the band again. Said hello to Bruce Brown who did his song "Even up the score." which is the song hes doing on tour this year. Got a hug and hello from Wormey and a quick hello from Charlie H. Missed Pat this year, but did get to talk with Shannon and his beautiful wife Melissa. They are the sweetest couple. Love them. So friendly and personable.
Also got to talk a bit with Danielle Di Gregario and it was good to chat for a few minutes. It seems shes doing pretty well. Love her.
Got to talk with Miss Hazel as well. She has recovered nicely from her back surgery last year. She is as beautiful and gracious as ever.
Theres a new tshirt out, which was not yet released on line...pretty cool and they had it in my size. woohoo!
I just love facebook, because it puts us in contact with people all year round so when you see them at the party...you kinda feel like old friends.
I said that because I had to get my yearly pic with Miss Carolyn Corlew who hasnt aged one bit since the 11 years Ive been coming to Mt Juliet.
When the concert was over we gathered in a long line for the meet and greet. I bet it was 2 1/2 hours long. I sat down and waited til towards the end since I had already been standing up interpreting the concert..got to visit with Mustang and Broose a while.
They always have a professional photographer at the parties and this one was no exception. When it all got done, I waited for my pic. And I waited. It seems they lost my pic. And Charlie had LEFT THE BUILDING...wahhhh. So good thing Dean Tubbs took a picture with my camera or I wouldnt have gotten any. So ONE pic from the whole event. sigh. Hopefully others took pics that I might be able to print out to save for my scrap book.
It was 830 before everything got wrapped up.
What a wonderful time we had.
We really missed Hokie, Carolina Sue and Doreen and Nicole...its not the same with out you guys.
Start saving for next year!
God Bless.

Finally got home late Fri night and still trying to catch up. Another great party. Thank you again Mr. Daniels. You are one of a kind!! It was great to see Glenn, Liska, Mustang and Broose again. I always look forward to our little visits. Miss Hazel looked wonderful as usual and I got to visit with her for a bit. So glad that she is feeling better. I always leave knowing that I'm so blessed..Steve, I think I saw you too but didn't know who you were. I'll remember for next time. I get to see the CDB next month about 3 hours from my home. Can't wait.
